Description

Our client, a global organisation with a growing footprint in Asia Pacific, is seeking an experienced finance professional to lead their Shared Services Centre in Kuala Lumpur. This is a pivotal role overseeing a team of around 40 finance specialists who manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and record-to-report activities across multiple countries in the region.

The centre is still in its early stages of development, so the successful candidate will act as a champion for its growth, driving process improvements, ensuring compliance, and preparing the SSC to take on additional responsibilities over time. You will report directly to regional finance leadership, with a dotted line to the global shared services operations function.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the SSC, covering O2C, P2P, and R2R processes.
• Ensure accounting transactions comply with internal control frameworks, statutory requirements, and corporate governance standards.
• Deliver consistent, high-quality service in line with shared services operating models.
• Champion operational efficiencies and service improvement initiatives, including automation.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across business units and external partners.
• Oversee workforce planning, staff development, and performance management for SSC personnel.
• Support onboarding and training for new systems and processes.
• Contribute to ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives as required.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Accounting/Finance or professional qualification (e.g., ACCA).
• Minimum 5 years of shared services experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Audit background is advantageous.
• Strong people management and team development skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Hands-on, proactive, and able to balance operational detail with strategic oversight.
