We are looking for an experienced Vice President of Finance to join our amazing team! 

The VP of Finance is responsible for managing the financial and accounting areas of the credit union and ensuring reporting/operating activities are in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and credit union policies and procedures. This role oversees all accounting and finance functions including financial statements, financial reporting, accounting/finance policies and procedures, tax reporting, financial analysis, cash/liquidity management, asset/liability management (ALM), and budgeting/forecasting. Coordinates the internal audits, on external audits and NCUA examinations. Provides analytical and planning support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and executive management as needed. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee, review and ensure all financial statements, management reporting, and regulatory reporting are in accordance with GAAP, government regulations, and credit union policies/procedures. 
  • Oversee all accounting operational activities and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and efficiently. Ensure the Accounting department is using Prologue Financials to the fullest extent possible. 
  • Oversees accounts payable and fixed asset functions to ensure overall compliance with established credit union polices and adequate internal controls. 
  • Review all tax return filings for the credit union to ensure reports are generated accurately and prepared timely. 
  • Work with internal and external auditors and NCUA examiners to ensure the credit union is in compliance with GAAP, government regulations, and credit union polices/procedures. 
  • Ensure departmental internal controls are adequate and effective. 
  • Work with CFO to oversee ALM reporting and analysis functions. This includes reviewing quarterly reports, analyzing results, developing “what-if” scenarios and sensitivity analysis, and providing recommendations to the Asset/Liability Management Committee (ALCO) for interest rate risk management and mitigation. Proactively develops new or enhances existing analyses as appropriate. 
  • Direct and review financial reporting and analysis functions including key financial ratios, budget variance reporting, allowance for Loan & Lean Loss (ALLL) adequacy, peer group analysis, and profitability analyses. 
  • Create new and enhance existing financial analyses as needed. 
  • Work with CFO to direct all investments activities including reporting, analysis, purchasing and due diligence reporting on approved brokers/agents. 
  • Work with CFO to direct cash management activities and reporting. 
  • Oversee cash flow analysis and maintenance of liquidity requirements. 
  • Monitor and report on capital adequacy, earnings, expense efficiency and asset quality. 
  • Ensure all Board and Committee reports are prepared and presented to the CFO accurately and timely. 
  • Work with CFO to supervise and lead in the development, maintenance, quality control and timely production of the annual budgeting, quarterly forecast and related financial components of the strategic planning process. 
  • Review all budget assumptions, reporting and presentation, ensures information is presented timely, accurately and efficiently. 
  • Recruit, develop and maintain highly motivated and well-trained staff. 
  • Evaluate job performance of subordinates to ensure quality of work and services to internal and external members. 
  • Instill a “member-first” cultural environment. 
  • Conduct regular management staff meetings to review, discuss, and resolve problems regarding operational procedures and/or corporate policies. Proactively interfaces with staff to maintain positive relations and stay informed of day-to-day issues, following up as necessary for process improvements. 
  • Review internal processes with management staff and improves operational efficiency with a focus of internal controls and process automation, consistent with the credit union procedures and/or policies. 
  • Maintain a proactive approach to efficiency and other improvement opportunities and implements appropriately. 
  • Ensure department policies and procedures are documented thoroughly, reviewed regularly, and updated timely. 
  • Assist CFO with special projects as needed.


Requirements

Knowledge and Skills: 

Experience Required: 

Five to ten years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Previous supervisor experience required. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Requires broad knowledge of accounting, finance, investments, economic theory and practice, budgeting and forecasting techniques within the financial services industry. Strong experience with financial systems, models, analysis techniques and credit union systems.

 Education Required:

 A college degree.

 Interpersonal Skills:

 The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust. Obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues, as well as a professional level of written communication skills are essential to the position.

 Other Skills:

 CPA license (preferred)
