The Opportunity:
The Department of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Sciences is seeking an open rank (assistant, associate, or full professor), non-tenure-track faculty position with the opportunity to work closely with an interdisciplinary team of professionals throughout the School and University to help advance initiatives such as the expansion of the Sports Residency Program and Sports Concentration within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program across the Northeastern University Global Network.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include teaching graduate courses, engaging in scholarship, and participating in departmental, college, university, and professional service activities. Qualified candidates must have expertise in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with diverse student populations and/or In a culturally diverse work and educational environment.
This 12-month position’s responsibilities include being a core faculty member in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, effective teaching, contributing to and teaching the core curriculum and sports and exercise content, developing curriculum materials, and engaging in scholarship and service.
There is an opportunity to work with University student-athletes as a faculty member and clinician at the discretion of the head team physician.
The applicant will be asked to recruit and yield qualified students from diverse backgrounds and ensure that all correspondence with prospective and enrolled students is accurate and timely.
In collaboration with Bouvè College Enrollment Management, applicants for admission to graduate and second-degree programs and internal transfer applicants from undergraduate programs are evaluated.
In partnership with the Office of Student Services, monitor academic standing and progression of all students enrolled in the program and complete graduation clearance processes as requested. Supervise or provide department-based professional student services, such as program-specific advising and guidance on professional licensure as applicable. Complete the faculty advisor training program offered by the Office of Student Services.
Initiate and foster extra relationships that are beneficial to the program and/or that inform program development, including with professional associations, clinical placement, internship sites, guest lecturers, industry leaders or program advisory board members, alums, potential donors, and partner institution for prospective applicants to the program.
Represent the program at department, college, and university events that relate to the viability and success of the program, such as open houses, convocation, commencement, and faculty meetings.
Monitor student progress toward designated outcomes and adjust curricular and teaching materials to achieve those desired outcomes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
A successful applicant must have the following qualifications:
Hold an active or be able to obtain an unrestricted PT license in the State of Massachusetts.
Have a maximum of three years of clinical experience (Assistant Rank); Associate and Full Professor ranks commensurate with qualifications/experience.
Experience in higher education teaching.
Hold or are eligible to earn an ABPTS certification or clinical specialization.
Hold a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or ScD) by position start date.
Have a scholarship and/or experience working with individuals in sports performance or rehabilitation settings.
Be eligible to hold an assistant, associate, or full professor rank.
