Tenure Track Faculty Position

Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science

University of Maryland School of Medicine

 The University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM), Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science (PTRS) is recruiting for a 12-month, full-time, tenure track faculty position. Outstanding scholars with an established and highly successful research program with interests that complement and extend existing areas of excellence in rehabilitation research are invited to apply.

Responsibilities include advancing departmental research, mentorship, teaching and service within the DPT and Physical Rehabilitation Science PhD programs.

Qualifications include a PhD, EdD or DSc., experience in an area related to rehabilitation research to complement and expand our existing foundation, and the ability to work collaboratively and successfully with a variety of healthcare and research professionals. The candidate should have evidence of extensive scholarly work, teaching experience, and service.

Preferred qualifications include strong active federal grant funding and a research focus in bioengineering or neuroscience.

Rank and salary Full-time, tenure-track position at the level of Associate Professor or Professor. Salary and start-up funds commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About PTRS and the Campus:  PTRS is located on the professional campus of the University of Maryland in Baltimore residing within the research-intensive University of Maryland School of Medicine. The PTRS Department offers a DPT, a PhD in Physical Rehabilitation Science and a dual DPT/PhD http://pt.umaryland.edu. Extensive opportunities exist for collaborations with researchers and clinicians in PTRS as well as other Departments and Schools including Orthopedics, Neurology, Diagnostic Radiology, Epidemiology and Public Health, Medicine, and with established research and clinical centers on the Baltimore campus including the Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC), the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCC); the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) and the Baltimore Veteran’s Administration Medical Center. Additional collaborative links are established with the University of Maryland, College Park; University of Maryland Baltimore County; the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center; and the National Institutes of Health.  PTRS has state of the art facilities which include access to the world class Health Sciences and Human Services Library and the multipurpose SMC Campus Center. The campus is within walking distance of Baltimore’s beautiful Inner Harbor as well as Camden Yards and M & T Bank Stadium. Additionally, it is within a one-hour drive of Washington, D.C. and is 20 minutes from Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport.
