About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Clinical Trials Biostatistician to join us in the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences. As the Clinical Trials Biostatistician, you will support the research of senior staff within the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences, and will work with the Mental Health Australia General Clinical Trial Network (MAGNET); a national initiative funded by the Medical Research Future Fund. You will specifically be working to provide statistical services for clinical trials conducted under the auspices of MAGNET.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a track-record of supporting clinical research, with a preference for experience in mental health (although not essential). You will have expertise in a range of methodologies, which include (but are not restricted to) design of clinical trial protocols, power analyses for cluster trials, minimisation techniques for the randomisation of treatment allocations, appropriate analysis methodologies and reporting formats for statistical analyses relating to clinical trials.
In addition to the provision of clinical statistical services the position has been designed to create national standard clinical statistical procedures (SCSPs) for power analysis, treatment allocation, data cleaning, analysis and reporting for MAGNET, while also providing/organising training in other areas such as adaptive trials and machine learning. A consultative process will be used to a) determine what standardised clinical statistical procedures are required, and b) determine what the training needs are.
You will be expected to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team in order to help the Centre for Mental Health & Brain Sciences to achieve its objectives, as well as the specific objectives of this position.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Substantial knowledge within (bio)statistics and clinical trials
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and analysing clinical trial data.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including resourcefulness, initiative and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment
Qualifications
An earned postgraduate degree in (bio)statistics, which might include data science – with experience working or conducting research requiring comprehensive statistical analysis of clinical trial data.
