Description

Position Title: Camp Carnegie Coordinator – HIRING TWO COORDINATORS

Seasonal Work: July 1 (half-day), July 8-26, 2024, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM

Employee Classification: 1099 Contractor

Compensation: $1,920 stipend for 3 weeks & half-day onboarding session

Job Location: On-Site 

Direct Report: Youth Programs & Volunteer Director

About Camp Carnegie: Camp Carnegie is a series of camps for middle school youth. It is designed to provide high-quality academic enrichment, fun, fast-paced learning, and an introduction to fascinating careers. Experienced instructors, community field trips, and hands-on activities contribute to the fun yet informative nature of the program. There are six week-long, half-day camps at the Carnegie Center, each with a different theme and instructor. The 2024 camps topics include: Screenwriting, Crocheting, Comics, Poetry, Storytelling, and Journalism.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Set up supplies for each classroom
    • Serve as assistant to camp instructors for six half-day, week-long camps (3 weeks total)
    • Sit in on six camps as an authority figure; handle behavior issues if they arise
    • Prepare daily snack for each camp (we will purchase snacks to have at the center)
    • Coordinate student drop-off and pick-up; remain with children until parents have arrived
    • Clean classroom at the conclusion of each camp (pick up supplies, straighten chairs, vacuum when needed, etc.)
    •  Coordinate lunch for full-day campers

Desired Qualifications

    • Excellent verbal communication skills with teachers, parents, students, and youth director
    • Strong professionalism and organizational skills
    • Classroom management skills
    • Experience with middle school students preferred
    • Must complete a background check
