Description
The International Relations Program (IRP) in the Graduate School of International Relations (GSIR) at the International University of Japan (IUJ) offers a Master’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Political Science. IRP seeks applications for a tenure-track position (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor) in Political Science to begin either January 2024 or April 2024 by the latest.
Established in 1982, IUJ is a private graduate school and located in Minami Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. IUJ is Japan’s first graduate school to provide all courses in English. The IRP has students from all over the world including public officials. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.iuj.ac.jp.
The successful candidate will teach 4 eight-week courses in the Master program per academic year, two of which must be “Quantitative Method for Political Science” and “Game Theory.” IUJ adopts a three-semester system (fall, winter, and spring) in which each faculty member regularly teaches one course in two of the three semesters and two courses in the remaining one semester. In addition, the candidate will supervise around 5 students to complete their master theses or research reports throughout an academic year. One business trip to a developing country might be required in a year.
Applicants should have a doctorate degree in Political Science by the time of appointment (January 2024 or April 2024). English fluency is required, while Japanese fluency is preferable but not required. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in addition to benefits for housing or commuting. IUJ provides on-campus housing options for faculty and their families.
IUJ is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals, including females and minorities.
