Description

Certified Peer Recovery Advocate ( CRPA)

 Position Summary:

For our Medicated Assisted Treatment Programs, the Peer Advocate target recovery outcomes such as improved health and wellness; an increased sense of self-efficacy or empowerment; and increased success and satisfaction in a range of community settings such as work, home and school, instead of merely focusing on symptom reduction. will be ensuring that potential patients are eligible for care and their data is managed/stored properly and accurately in our electronic record systems. The position involves communication, customer service, data entry, and time management skills. Our Peer Advocate will be a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) who hold a certification from a Certifying Authority recognized by the Office of Addiction Services and Support. 

Responsibilities: 

    Engage with an individual to consider entering treatment. 

    Engage a client to attend treatment or other healthcare services.  

    Provide resources for continuing care services post-discharge. 

    Develop treatment/recovery plans. 

    Raise awareness of existing social and other support services. 

    Model coping skills. 

    Accompany clients to court appearances and medical or other appointments when necessary

    Provide non-clinical crisis support, especially after periods of hospitalization or incarceration.

    Work with participants to identify strengths. 

    Link participants to formal recovery supports.

    Educate program participants about various modes of recovery. 

    Travel training – to use public transportation independently.

    Educate and support on the use of medication assisted treatment. 

Travel Requirements:

    Up to 100% travel among the clinics in the assigned borough 

Qualifications:

 Must be a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) who hold a certification from a Certifying Authority recognized by the from the Office of Addiction Services and Support.

    High School Diploma or Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree. (Related experience will be considered in lieu college degree) 

    At least one year (1) of experience working in the healthcare industry

    Must be patient centered and relationship oriented

    Must support, engage, and reengage clients throughout the treatment and recovery process

    Must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills and have adequate knowledge of office equipment. 

    Bilingual in another language is preferred / Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
