The Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, is seeking an academic Emergency Medicine attending physician to join our outstanding faculty in Boston, MA. Faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School are available at the instructor, assistant, or associate professor level, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated academic Emergency Medicine physician to advance clinical excellence, scholarly inquiry, and medical education within a world-class academic medical center. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals with a passion for teaching, research, innovation, and high-quality patient care in a collaborative and collegial environment. As part of the dynamic team, you will be at the forefront of developing or building upon a specialized research area of research expertise. BIDMC is a rich environment for research with robust infrastructure (e.g. a standing clinical research team), support (e.g. IRB writer, statistical support, database support), and mentorship (multiple NIH RO1 funded investigators within the department) to assist in facilitating a successful research career.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality, compassionate clinical care in a high-acuity, urban academic emergency department.
Participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Engage in academic activities including research, quality improvement, education, informatics, administration, or other scholarly pursuits aligned with your interests.
Collaborate with a diverse and multidisciplinary team of emergency medicine professionals committed to advancing the field and improving patient outcomes.
Contribute to the department’s academic and strategic goals through clinical service, scholarly engagement, and departmental leadership opportunities.
Qualifications:
MD or equivalent medical degree.
Board certification (or eligibility) in Emergency Medicine.
Demonstrated commitment to academic emergency medicine, with interests in areas such as medical education, clinical innovation, health equity, operations, research or quality and safety.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative spirit.
Eligibility for Massachusetts medical licensure.
