ACE Student Leader - SI Role: SI Leaders are faculty-recommended students who are trained in planning and facilitating collaborative learning study sessions for their peers within targeted courses. SI Leaders offer instructional support by attending class meetings for their specific course/section; leading weekly group study sessions outside of class; as well as providing students with tools and strategies to promote academic success within the course.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attend all class meetings (including labs) for the course/section you are supporting
- Plan and facilitate one-hour study sessions per week based the availability and needs of students enrolled in the course
- Inform direct supervisors of session meeting times and locations
- Track student attendance and upload session plans to Blackboard each week
- Assist students in developing time management, communication, and study skills to promote academic success within the course
- Maintain consistent communication with your direct supervisors
- Assist students in navigating Blackboard and understanding course expectations
- Help students in locating and submitting assignments
- Assist students in posting to a discussion board
- Provide support to students through Blackboard, Zoom, email, or on-campus meetings
- Attend ACE Student Leader training and monthly meetings
- Be aware of and advocate for the other resources and services provided at MCC
- Model appropriate academic attitudes and behaviors to staff, faculty, and students
- Complete other ACE Department tasks as assigned

- Must be recommended by a faculty member for the course you want to support and earned a B+ or higher
- Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
- Attend ACE Student Leader monthly meetings
- Complete the required ACE Student Leader minimum 15-hour training
- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the subject matter of the course you support
- Demonstrate an ability to work and communicate well with students of various academic levels and diverse backgrounds
- Effectively explain concepts to others and communicate study strategies to ensure academic success within the course
- Complete and submit all SI-related assignments and paperwork in a timely manner
- Exhibit patience and positive attitudes in establishing an encouraging learning environment
- Exhibit good organizational, communication, and basic computing skills
- Work toward International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) SI Leader Certification

Salary: $18.25 per hour
