About the Role:
The Employment Law Counsel will play a pivotal role in ensuring Insmed's compliance with federal and state employment laws across the US. This position requires a strategic problem solver with a legal background in employment law who can provide expert guidance, be a trusted partner, lead initiatives, and collaborate with team members to manage legal risks effectively.
What You'll Do:
In this role, you will advise on a broad spectrum of federal and state employment laws, including wage and hour, leave management, contingent workers, benefits, and multi-state employment compliance.
You'll also:
- Partner with HR and other business functions to provide day-to-day advice and manage employee relations matters.
- Draft, negotiate, and update various employment related agreements, including those pertaining to executive compensation and severance agreements.
- Respond to pre-litigation matters, including demand letters and administrative agency charges (e.g., EEOC).
- Manage outside counsel as needed for litigation, immigration, and specialized matters.
- Develop, update, and implement employment policies, procedures, templates, and employee handbook sections to ensure legal compliance and reflect best practices.
- Stay up to date with employment law changes and developments to proactively advise business teams on the impact and develop forward-thinking advice on practical approaches to compliance.
- Actively identify, create, and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of handling employment-related matters,
- Participate in and lead ad hoc projects including those supporting corporate initiatives and organizational changes.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Legal team and perform other related duties, as assigned or requested, including in other legal areas such as contracts, M&A, privacy, or general corporate matters, as the role evolves.
- Have an understanding of federal employment statutes (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII) and employment laws across various US states and an ability to advise the business on compliance in a practical, solutions-oriented manner.
Who You Are:
You have a JD Degree from an accredited law school and 3+ years of experience advising clients on employment law matters. This can include a combination of corporate and/or law firm positions. Additionally, you are a member in good standing of the Bar of a state, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia and ability to obtain a New Jersey limited in-house counsel license.
Additionally you have:
- Demonstrated collaborative, flexible approach to problem solving with urgency that balances legal risks with business needs.
- Ability to exercise outstanding judgment regarding the analysis, interpretation, and application of laws, regulations, guidelines, and requirements, development of policies and procedures, and selection of appropriate courses of action.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to convey complex matters effectively.
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize work and display strong attention to detail, accuracy, and conciseness.
- Ability to develop relationships and interact successfully in a dynamic and inclusive workplace.
- Experience supporting clients within the healthcare or life sciences industry preferred.
- Experience with immigration law is a plus.
- Agility and willingness to broaden areas of expertise
Travel Requirements
This role will require occasional domestic travel approximately 10%
Where You'll Work
This is a hybrid role based out of our Bridgewater, NJ Headquarters. You'll work remotely most of the time, with in-person collaboration when it matters most.

Pay Range:
$187,000.00-243,500.00 Annual
