12 The Team:
You'll join our dynamic North American infrastructure team, part of the Global Infrastructure Practice. Based primarily in New York and Toronto, the team covers Power & LNG, Midstream, Regulated Utilities, and Project Finance P3, though coverage can evolve. You may cover multiple sectors. You'll collaborate with experienced industry specialists globally who rate infrastructure companies and assets, within a highly integrated and collegiate S&P Global Ratings culture that emphasizes teamwork, knowledge sharing, and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities:
As an Associate Director in the Global Infrastructure Practice, you will perform rigorous analytical work, including research, fundamental credit analysis, financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and report writing on rated corporate and project finance entities. Specifically, you will:
- Act as the Primary Analyst for a portfolio of credits, managing issuer relationships and ongoing surveillance.
- Conduct surveillance and make rating recommendations, preparing clear, well-supported analytical conclusions.
- Present analytical findings to internal stakeholders, credit committees, and external investors.
- Support new issuer coverage and new issues, including project financings and rating evaluation services.
- Develop and maintain financial models and credit metrics, ensuring accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Contribute to commentaries and thought leadership and mentor junior team members.
- Participate and vote in credit committees, providing original insight and rigorous analysis.
- Operate within established ratings criteria, policies, and procedures, and drive continuous improvement and high customer service standards.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Required Qu alificat ion s :
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience: An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5+ years of extensive experience in credit analysis within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or audit firm.
- Technical skills: Strong analytical skills with detailed understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts; proficiency with financial models and credit metric calculations.
- Sector knowledge: Working knowledge of energy infrastructure including unregulated power, midstream, refining, and LNG; familiarity with typical project finance legal documents.
- Tools: Strong Excel skills including formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data filters.
- Soft skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; customer-oriented with strong presentation ability; intellectually curious, self-starter with a strong work ethic.
- Work arrangement: All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
- Interview requirement: We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office; this must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
- Advanced degree or designation: MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics and/or recognized designation such as the CFA or FRM.
- Additional experience: Prior exposure to project finance transactions, corporate credit analysis in infrastructure sectors, or investor-facing roles.
