We have the nation’s first FACT accredited blood and marrow transplantation (BMT) program, Texas Transplant Institute (TTI), providing transplants, research and care for patients with hematologic malignancies. Requirements
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Clinical Oncology Pharmacist at the Methodist Hospital in San Antonio's, South Texas Medical Center. The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist role will provide safe, evidence-based, cost effective, care to our patient population and participate in clinical projects, committees, and initiatives to support the oncology program.

Roles of Clinical Pharmacist Specialists include but are not limited to:
- Provide clinical expertise to optimize therapy for cancer patients through the recommendation, implementation, monitoring, and modification of treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Monitor drug therapy to evaluate appropriateness of use, dose, regimen, route, and drug interactions and available efficacy data and guideline recommendations
- Provide guidance and expertise to committees and participate in quality or process improvement initiatives
- Participate in the education and training of students, residents, pharmacy staff
- Provide education and counseling to patients and caregivers about their chemotherapy regimens, supportive care medications, and discharge medications
- Participate in the development, review, and implementation of order sets, protocols, and regimen templates
- Provide leadership for developing, implementing, and maintaining medication-related guidelines, policies, and standards
- Assist in process improvement of workflow, quality, and safety for patients and team
- Oversee the cost-effective use of medications to ensure appropriate utilization of resources
Qualifications
- Experience working with one or more of the following: Medical Oncology, BMT, CART, inpatient and/or outpatient chemotherapy, and Pediatric Oncology
- Multiple Oncology Pharmacist Roles available, inquire for specifics
- Active Texas Pharmacist License
- Completed an PGY2 Oncology Pharmacist Residency or has a minimum 5 years of experience in oncology practice, preferred
- BCOP certification is preferred
- Experience with Meditech is preferred but not required
