Job Description:
Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000
The Coordinator for Career Readiness and Curricular Design spearheads the delivery and integration of professional readiness skill building within the School of Management curriculum. Reporting to the Director of SOM Career Services, this role serves as a strategic link between classroom learning and career outcomes. The coordinator balances providing individualized career coaching and assessment with designing innovative initiatives to ensure students graduate with not only a degree, but an executive presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Career Coaching
- Provide one-on-one and group career coaching (virtually and in-person) to help undergraduate and graduate students identify professional goals and develop actionable plans.
- Assist students with resume, cover letter and interview preparation.
- Administer and interpret career assessments to help students understand and articulate their strengths, interests, and values.
- Guide students through the process of securing internships and work-based learning opportunities that align with their academic trajectory.
- Track and document coaching sessions, and follow up with students to monitor and facilitate progress.
- Curricular Design and Integration
- Partner with faculty to develop a skills transcript and identify courses where career competencies (e.g., data storytelling, ethical leadership, emotional intelligence, etc.) can be formally assessed.
- Lead the design and implementation of interactive, skills-first career-readiness workshops, special events, and in-class programming. Develop specialized digital and in-person career content, customized for specific majors and concentrations.
- Develop an SOM Professional Code for course syllabi to help set universal expectations for professional behavior and executive presence.
- Curate and maintain a comprehensive library of asynchronous, digital professional development content to provide students with 24/7 access to high-quality career resources.
- Coordinate with SOM Constituent Relations to provide student organizations with expert-led professional development training and high-level networking strategy.
- Launch and scale a suite of non-credit programs - such as digital badges and professional workshops - that transform SOM's expertise into turnkey tools for regional partners.
- Monitor emerging global job skills to ensure curriculum relevance.
- Collect longitudinal data to report on the impact of embedded career content on internship and job placement rates.
- Office Operations Support and Internal Programming
- Train and strategically deploy student career assistants; fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a resource for employers seeking to recruit SOM Students; including scheduling interviews and managing job and internship postings.
- Collaborate with professional staff to coordinate logistics for employer visits, information sessions, recruitment events, and other professional development programming.
- Support key career services events such as the twice annual Career Week.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, communications, marketing, psychology, education or a related field
- At least one year of work experience in a university career services office OR in a business/industry environment involving career and employment issues, recruiting, business development or a related area
- Demonstrated success in planning, executing and evaluating events
- Ability to travel occasionally
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Preferred:
- Master's degree in in business administration, human resources, communications, marketing, psychology, education or a related field
- Experience integrating AI workflows to improve business processes
- Experience in sales, marketing, or business development
