About the Role
We are representing a well-established luxury fine jewelry retailer seeking a hands-on Director of Operations to lead day-to-day store operations, people leadership, and operational execution across the business. This role is ideal for a proven luxury retail operator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-touch environment, front-facing leadership, retail execution, and operational performance. The Director of Operations partners closely with ownership and store leadership to ensure consistency, accountability, and a best-in-class client experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Retail Operations & Leadership
- Lead daily operations of a high-volume luxury jewelry retail environment, ensuring smooth execution across sales, service, office, and shop functions.
- Maintain a strong, visible presence on the sales floor during peak business hours to support team performance and client experience.
- Ensure opening, closing, and daily operational routines are executed consistently and to brand standards.
- Monitor store performance indicators including sales trends, staffing coverage, traffic flow, and operational readiness.
Team Leadership & HR Oversight (Operational Level)
- Oversee recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management for retail, administrative, and support staff.
- Support department managers with scheduling, coverage planning, coaching, and accountability.
- Foster a professional, collaborative culture aligned with luxury service expectations.
- Client Experience & Brand Standards
- Ensure all client interactions reflect luxury brand standards, relationship-selling best practices, and exceptional service.
- Reinforce luxury sales etiquette, product knowledge, and presentation standards across the team.
- Partner with sales leadership to support clienteling efforts, follow-up processes, and VIP client engagement.
- Assist with in-store events, client appointments, and special initiatives that elevate the client experience.
Store Operations & Vendor Coordination
- Oversee store facilities, systems, and physical plant needs including maintenance coordination, IT support, alarms, and security protocols.
- Manage operational vendor relationships related to store services, supplies, and maintenance, excluding complex contract negotiations.
- Review invoices and operational expenses for accuracy and alignment with approved budgets, partnering with the Controller/CFO as needed.
Cross-Functional Support & Projects
- Support store initiatives such as seasonal transitions, merchandising coordination, store improvements, and operational projects.
- Partner with marketing leadership to support in-store campaigns, events, and product launches.
- Serve as a key operational leader when ownership is traveling or attending trade events, in coordination with senior leadership.
Ideal Background
- 8–12+ years of experience in luxury retail operations, preferably fine jewelry or high-end specialty retail.
- Prior experience as a Store Manager, District Manager, Regional Manager, or General Manager in a hands-on environment.
- Strong people leader with an operational, detail-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable leading from the sales floor and solving issues in real time.
- Organized, adaptable, and collaborative.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience leading teams in a high-touch, client-driven retail environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail systems/CRM tools.
Working Conditions/Environment:
- Location: Onsite in Metairie, Louisiana.
- Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday (Closed Sunday and Monday).
- Core Hours: 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
