Role Overview:
Bainbridge Island School District is seeking a Director of Teaching and Learning (Grades 7–12) to serve as a key leader in advancing the district’s strategic plan by strengthening aligned, coherent systems that support high-quality teaching and learning at the secondary level. This role leads collaborative curriculum development and implementation in service of student learning, social-emotional well-being, and equity. Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with district-level administrators, building leaders, and school staff to ensure a meaningful, engaging, and responsive curriculum in every 7-12 classroom.
- Partner with key stakeholders (students, staff, families, and community members) to promote system-wide instructional practices grounded in equity and inclusion.
- Provide oversight and ensure compliance with state and federal programs, including grant management and reporting.
- Plan and administer the Teaching and Learning budget in alignment with the district’s strategic plan, including budget forecasting and direct oversight of expenditures.
- Lead curriculum adoption, articulation, and implementation across 7-12th grade classrooms district wide.
- Coordinate the continued integration of the MTSS framework to support all learners, including the review, adoption, and professional learning related to tiered instructional and intervention supports.
- Support the design and facilitation of high-quality professional learning for staff throughout the school year.
- Review, update, and recommend revisions to school board policies and procedures for board consideration and adoption.
- Attend School Board meetings and prepare regular reports to the Board.
- Facilitate district committees in alignment with the BISD strategic plan.

Education & Experience:
Washington state principal certification.
Master’s degree in educational administration or related field.
Minimum of at least five (5) years of successful experience as a school principal or comparable experience, demonstrating the candidate’s growth as an instructional leader.

Contract: 260 days including
13 paid holidays & 30 vacation days
Salary: $176,000-188,000 per year
