Description
Position Overview:
The Community Recreation Director plays a vital role in strengthening community health, wellbeing, connection, and
opportunity. This position leads a team of professionals in delivering high-quality programs, services, and facilities that
promote active lifestyles and ensure all residents, of every age and ability, have access to safe, welcoming, and enriching recreation.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Select, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
- Establish and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and work standards for staff and facility operations.
- Provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and fiscal management for the Doyle Community Center, Spence Softball Complex, and all recreation programming.
- Develop, organize, and evaluate recreation programs, events, and activities for youth, adults, and seniors.
- Create and analyze performance reports for programs and facility usage; identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Monitor and analyze revenue, participation data, and expenditures.
- Participate in long-term planning for recreation services, facility development, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop and implement daily operating policies and procedures in alignment with broader organizational directives.
- Design, promote, and market programs, events, and facilities using flyers, websites, social media, digital media, and newsletters.
- Oversee website content development, editing, and maintenance.
- Ensure all buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained in a safe and functional condition.
- Collaborate with staff and maintenance personnel to schedule required work for mechanical and specialized systems.
- Coordinate inspections and support Facility Manager decisions regarding cost-effective repairs or replacements.
- Continuously pursue opportunities to improve service quality and operational effectiveness.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in recreational programming.
- 3 years of Supervisory or leadership experience, overseeing staff, volunteers, or program teams.
