Position Overview
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Radiation Oncologist with a primary focus on excellence in clinical radiation oncology. The successful candidate will help advance our mission of expert, compassionate, and equitable care and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams within a high-performing, accredited facility.
This faculty member will support the department’s strategic goals by providing outstanding clinical service across multiple facilities, engaging in collaborative tumor boards, and contributing to our robust academic mission in research, teaching, and clinical program development.
An academic appointment rank will be offered commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Clinical & Academic Responsibilities
-Deliver high-quality, evidence-based radiation oncology care across diverse disease sites.
-Participate in multidisciplinary care teams and tumor boards.
-Engage in clinical research, quality improvement, and protocol development.
-Teach and mentor radiation oncology residents, medical students, and trainees.
-Contribute to departmental administrative, academic, and programmatic initiatives.
Required clinical competencies include: 3D-CRT, IMRT/IGRT, SABR/SBRT, SRS, and HDR brachytherapy.
Department & Facilities
Located in Boston’s iconic South End, BMC Radiation Oncology was the first institution in Massachusetts to be accredited by the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) APEx — Accreditation Program for Excellence®. We provide comprehensive radiotherapy services within a fully integrated and multidisciplinary cancer center.
The department is staffed by a highly collaborative team, including:
-3 faculty radiation oncologists
-4 full-time clinical physicists
-3 full-time dosimetrists
The department supports a blend of clinical excellence, clinical trials participation, and academic productivity. It maintains active involvement in multi-center clinical trials and the implementation of advanced stereotactic protocols for CNS/spine, prostate, lung, and liver malignancies.
Technology & Equipment
-Linear Accelerators: Two Varian linacs (IX and Trilogy), with active plans to upgrade to two Varian TrueBeam systems with advanced imaging and stereotactic capabilities
- SRS/SBRT: Dedicated CyberKnife S7 unit
- Brachytherapy: Varian Varisource IX HDR afterloader
-Simulation & Imaging: Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT simulator
-Treatment Planning: Eclipse, Multiplan, BrachyVision, and the Mim Maestro multimodality imaging platform
-Information Systems: Fully paperless ARIA environment

For this position, the anticipated salary range is $378,289 – $664,996. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and departmental budget. The above hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting
Requirements
Completion of ACGME accredited radiation oncology residency or equivalent.
Board eligible or board certified in Radiation Oncology with the American Board of Radiology.
