About GPC:
Located in Ridgefield, CT, The Golf Performance Center is a leading full time golf coaching facility for athletes of all ages and skill levels. Our indoor/outdoor learning center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including GEARS, K-Vest, Sam Putt Lab, Swing Catalyst, Zen Putting Platform, two gyms, a challenging nine hole short course, two practice putting greens, and a practice par three. Our facility is also home to GPC Custom Clubs, which is an award winning club fitting center and state of the art build shop that has exclusive accounts with Titleist, TaylorMade, & Callaway.
At GPC, we utilize our Player Development System which acts as our guide in developing athletes on their journey of game improvement. We do this through the lens of the 5 Elements of Success: Desire, Physical Performance & Nutrition, Golf Coaching, Mental Game, and Equipment. While working with our team, coaches have the opportunity to observe and be involved in running PDI assessments, conducting 5 Elements of Success Evaluations, and contributing to the creation of Athlete Development Plans.
All said and done, at GPC, we are dedicated to developing players of all ages through world-class coaching, a positive learning environment, and a long-term commitment to growth and improvement. We are expanding our team and seeking a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Golf Coach to join our coaching staff.
Position Summary:
This unique opportunity is for a golf coach who is looking to mentor young golf athletes while learning more about player development. An integral part of this role will be supporting junior golfers aspiring to play college golf while gaining a practical understanding of the biomechanics of the golf swing, physical performance and nutrition for golf, clubfitting and building, best strategies for the mental game, golf operations and strategy, and overall long term development of golfers of all ages.
The successful candidate will be required to become a Certified PDS (Player Development System) Coach by completing a detailed and rigorous certification process. The candidate will also have the opportunity to get hands-on coaching experience with all levels of players ranging from beginner to professionals while also having the opportunity to travel to tournaments with our athletes and team. This position is ideal for those with a solid foundational knowledge of golf, a strong desire to grow as a coach, and the interpersonal skills to connect with athletes of all ages. As a golf coach the individual will work closely under the guidance of experienced GPC staff to develop their coaching skills while supporting programming and instruction.
Experience Required
- Desire to coach and positively impact players' development
- Personable, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with junior players
- Willingness to learn and receive feedback from our coaching staff
- A reliable and diligent self starter who can take direction and communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written formats
- Proficient with golf technology and/or willingness to be trained
- Possess a valid, current driver's license, a clean driving record and pass a background check
- Willing to transport athletes in company vehicles (SUV and 15 passenger van) to and from on-course practice and/or potential tournaments that are scheduled
- Sufficient golf knowledge and understanding of player development
- Playing background in competitive or recreational golf preferred
- PGA Member, Associate, or current PGM student is preferred, but not required
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, positive, and professional environment for students
- Uphold GPC's values of integrity, growth, and excellence in player development
- Provide enthusiastic, encouraging, and age-appropriate instruction
- Assist in coaching group golf sessions, primarily with junior golfers
- Deliver instruction that aligns with GPC's coaching philosophy and curriculum
- Support lead coaches in program design
- Participate in coach training sessions and staff meetings
