- Head Counselor - Boys Camp
Description
The Head Counselor of Boys Camp is a key member of the Windridge leadership team. This role oversees the counselor staff on the boys’ side of camp and directs all aspects of residential life, including cabin culture, daily routines, and camper well-being.
This position requires a confident, visible leader who can mentor staff, maintain high standards, and help create a positive, structured, and spirited camp community.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate boys camp counselors, CITs, and Junior Counselors
- Plan, direct, and oversee all residential life operations
- Ensure smooth daily schedules and strong cabin management
- Train counselors in effective cabin leadership and youth development practices
- Organize and support evening programs and community activities
- Maintain high standards for camper care, safety, and professionalism
- Serve as a visible, accessible leader throughout the day and evening
- Communicate clearly with camp leadership and staff
Qualifications
- At least 2+ summers of camp experience; prior leadership preferred
- Strong staff management, team-building, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with children ages 7–15 in residential or educational settings
- Ability to give clear, constructive feedback and coach peers
- Organized, steady under pressure, and solutions-oriented
- Enthusiastic about youth development, sports, and recreation
- Mature, professional, adaptable, and community-minded
- CPR/First Aid certification (we can help to obtain before camp)

Compensation & Details
- Seasonal commitment: Mid-June to Mid-August
- Competitive salary
- Room and board included
- Travel allowance provided
- Opportunity for pre- and post-camp work for additional compensation
- Residential, in-person position in Roxbury, Vermont
