Description
The Queens County District Attorney's Office is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mandarin-English Interpreter. The Mandarin-English Interpreter will work in the Grand Jury Bureau, providing interpretation, transcription, and translation services for witnesses, victims, and defendants in criminal cases.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
consecutive and simultaneous interpretation
translating legal documents
transcribing audio and video recordings
proofreading translations
providing court testimony on translations and interpretations performed
adhering to QDA policies
assisting with other related duties, as assigned by supervisory staff
Requirements
Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have at least a high school diploma or educational equivalent. Candidates must be court-certified and have oral and written fluency in Mandarin and English. Candidates must have passed an examination for interpreters administered by the State or have equivalent qualifications.
Candidates with certifications in legal interpreting or who have completed college-level interpreting programs are encouraged to apply.
Candidates must be able to multi-task, communicate effectively, and maintain high accuracy and confidentiality during interpretation.
Applicants must be able to work regularly Monday – Friday, 9 am- 5 pm.
Application Information:
Salary Range: $70,000 -75,000 (Commensurate with experience)
