Description
Sause Bros. is currently hiring an experienced Master for the West Coast. The Master is the senior officer onboard and is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the vessel, crew, and tow. This role provides overall command of the vessel while ensuring all operations are conducted in accordance with company policies, union agreements, and applicable regulations.
Founded 90 years ago, Sause Bros. is a family-owned marine transportation company known for delivering superior service throughout the Pacific Rim. We operate a modern fleet of state-of-the-art tow wire tugs, primarily engaged in petroleum barge towing along the U.S. West Coast and to the Hawaiian Islands. Our crews are represented by the Inlandboatmen’s Union (IBU), and we maintain long-term time charter contracts that provide consistent, stable work.
This position offers a day-for-day rotation and comes with a competitive compensation package that includes a Company funded retirement plan, full Medical, Dental, Vision, and License insurance, paid travel, holiday pay.

Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Progressive experience towing oil barges along the US West Coast.
- Current and valid Merchant Mariner Credential.
- Valid license for Master 500 GRT on Ocean routes with Master of Towing Vessels endorsement.
- Valid TWIC.
- STCWII/2, VI/5
- Radar/ARPA/ECDIS
- Marine Radio Operators Permit.
- Designated Examiner Approval.
- The Master will have demonstrated capability, reliability, and high regard for the safety of vessel and crew, and appropriate leadership ability
- Or as approved by the President.
