Duties
- Perform nuclear medicine procedure and quality assurance for PET as outlined in the protocol/procedure manuals to aid in patient diagnosis, intervention and or treatment
- Ensure MRI Safety Standards of Practice are followed at all times
- Operate, troubleshoots and ensures safe functioning of medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner
- Review research protocols involving requiring nuclear medicine activities
- Prepare written and electronic reports required to properly document all procedures and test results
- Attend PET-MR & Research meetings as required
- Assume the role and responsibility of the Radiation Safety Designate, such as responding to radiation incidents, and assisting with minor or major spills in the area.
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grand applications anddata processing
- Responsible for teaching, training, educational research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and utilizing the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to review, manipulate and archive digital medical images of data in final image formation
- Perform other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care
- Understand and follow Hospital and departmental Research policies and procedures to improve technical quality
Requirements
Qualifications
- Certification in Nuclear Medicine from a recognized academic institution
- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO), including annual continuing education requirements
- Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification, with ongoing maintenance
- Completion of the clinical component of an accredited medical imaging academic program or equivalent education as assessed by Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and CMRITO
- Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience in Nuclear Medicine
- Competence in operating PET diagnostic equipment, an asset
- Independent decision-making abilities
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently under stressful conditions
- Excellent problem-solving and recognition skills
- Practical time management skills, with the ability to organize work and set priorities
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attendance and availability for evenings and occasional weekends
- Sensitivity towards patients in challenging situations
- Strong inter-professional and collaborative approach to practice
- Good judgment to ensure work is performed in the best interest and safety of patients and the team.
- Ability to work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-patient volume setting, accommodating unexpected situations
