We are seeking a People and Culture Specialist to join our dynamic team!
Reporting to the Manager of People and Culture, the People and Culture Specialist will be a generalist with responsibilities that fall under most service and program areas managed by People and Culture. The People and Culture Specialist will be highly detail-oriented and will possess an adaptable approach, strong discernment, a self-directed mindset, and be committed to the success of the organization and its workforce.
This is a remote / work from home opportunity. Ideally, you are local to Winnipeg.
Duties of the role include:

Recruitment & Onboarding
Supports the Manager of People and Culture, department colleagues, and hiring managers with the development of employment offers, letters, payroll, group insurance enrollment, and all document management
Posts jobs, conducts resume screening, and sets up interviews.
Conducts candidate interviews for assigned roles with oversight and coaching as required.
Coordinates new employee orientation meetings and contributes to a strong onboarding experience for all new employees.
Administration
Tracks and sends reminders for performance management, conducts timely follow-up, coordinates DocuSign and filing.
Supports various projects that are aimed at accurate records and efficient processes.
Assists with policy development, policy versioning and maintenance of annual / ongoing policy review notes required for Audit purposes.
Helps maintain the P&C SharePoint site.
Conducts salary research related to salary ranges, industry trends, etc.
Culture & Environment
Supports activities and actions that foster a positive employee relations climate and positive company culture.
Communication
Creates announcements and supports written communiqués from People and Culture and for members of the executive team that deal with promotional appointments, changes to policy, updates on progress, terminations, etc.
Payroll
Responsible for gathering and providing accurate and timely information to Payroll regarding new hires, salary changes, etc.
Handles confidential employment verification requests from external organizations and provides Employment confirmation Letters as required.
Potential to learn and provide Payroll back-up.
Industry Knowledge
Maintains current People and Culture knowledge to ensure compliance within Canadian jurisdictions, US, and UK employment law.
Projects and Special Assignments
Appointed to special project teams and takes one-off projects as required.
Requirements
University or College degree in business with a major in Human Resources.
CPHR designation or CPHR Candidate is considered an asset.
2+ years of human resources / people and culture experience.
MS Office / SharePoint Proficiency.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and always maintain confidentiality.
Attention to detail with a focus on solutions, results, and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
Must be able to self-manage daily duties and time in a fast-paced, dynamic, remote, and ever-changing environment; ability to adapt to change.
Strong time management and ability to organize and follow-up on multiple tasks / details with accuracy and timeliness.
Knowledge of federal and provincial employment laws / how to research as needed.
Sound judgment and decision-making; ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability and experience in analyzing and improving operations, systems, and processes.
Balances a sense of urgency with accuracy and flexibility.
Awareness of AI ethics, bias, fairness, and responsible AI principles.
Understanding of data privacy and security considerations.
Experience with US business operations specifically in human resources, benefits, and payroll considered an asset.
