About the Position
As a Prefabrication Manager, you are responsible for managing all operations of the prefabrication shop, through performance criteria such as zero defects, for quality, costing and customer satisfaction measurements and activities. This includes ensuring adherence to industry and corporate safety standards and practices and applicable union bargaining agreements. This position develops metrics and measures/monitors the financial and manufacturing operations, efficiencies and costs for products and services provided, and ensures all labor activities, processes and procedures are adhered to, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.
Day in the Life
- Lead and manage daily operations of the prefabrication shop, ensuring all work meets company and industry standards.
- Develop and monitor detailed production schedules, coordinating with project managers, field operations, and supply chain teams for timely delivery.
- Implement and enforce rigorous quality control measures and safety protocols (including OSHA standards).
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to review designs for constructability, resolve conflicts, and incorporate value engineering alternatives.
- Contribute to estimating processes, including quantity take-offs and pricing analysis, ensuring project budgets are accurate and aligned with market conditions.
- Oversee material procurement, manage inventory, and ensure tools and machinery are available and maintained.
- Drive process optimization initiatives, applying Lean Manufacturing principles to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or construction management, with proven supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Familiarity with construction/estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, On-Screen Takeoff), CAD software, and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and materials.
- Understanding of lean production principles and quality control processes.
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Outstanding interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Must possess strong attention to detail and ensure maximum quality of work throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Travel to project sites as required, which may include temporary relocation for the duration of the project.
