Description
We are seeking an administrator who is visionary, high-energy, flexible, and innovative. The principal is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of a quality instructional program and for providing an emotionally and physically safe learning environment for the school community. The principal shall report to the superintendent.

Essential Duties
Leadership
- Articulate and support the mission, vision, core principles and policies of the Clarkston School District
- Lead by example
- Articulate and model high expectations and the ability to motivate others to achieve high levels of performance
- Work collaboratively with staff, students, parents and other members of the community to help improve student learning using data, judgment, best practices, and problem-solving skills
- Distribute leadership, utilizing and growing the talents of all staff members, recognizing their professionalism
- Supervision of extracurricular activities
- Facilitate the leadership of Professional Learning Communities
Instruction and the Learning Environment
- Provide support and resources to school staff to employ effective instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Analyze and interpret multiple data sources to inform school-level improvement efforts
- Assist staff in using data to guide, modify and improve classroom teaching and learning
- Foster growth, creativity, and flexibility among others using a variety of techniques
- Have experience, knowledge, and skill working with Washington State’s Educational Requirements – Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards, and Smarter Balance Assessments, etc.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of technology as an essential learning tool in the classroom and overall instructional program
- Provide a variety of opportunities for student involvement in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities
Supervision and Evaluation of Personnel
- Monitor and assist staff in implementing effective instruction and assessment practices
- Maintain a confidential relationship with employees regarding individual personnel matters
- Provide appropriate, timely, and meaningful verbal and written feedback to certified and classified staff regarding performance
- Demonstrate effective mentoring, coaching, and conferencing skills
- Develop professional growth plans with staff when needed
- Support, implement, and evaluate the in-service and professional growth opportunities for staff
- Demonstrate knowledge of and uphold the laws, regulations, policies, and contractual obligations related to the supervision and evaluation of school personnel, including the CEL 5D framework
Communication
- Communicate frequently and effectively, both orally and in writing, with all members of the school community
- Maintain high visibility with students, staff, and parents
- Facilitate the resolution of complex interpersonal issues among others
- Participate as an active listener
- Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of and sensitivity toward individuals and groups
- Develop school communications and a family engagement plan to address important school, Educator Support Center, and community issues
- Develop a plan for reporting student progress in an ongoing and meaningful way to parents
Management and Administration
- Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and support for shared decision-making processes
- Work collaboratively with Educator Support Center Administrators to secure resources to support the needs of your school and students
- Manage human resources and budgets according to district and program requirements
- Develop and monitor plans for the efficient and safe operation of the school facility and grounds
- Provide an emotionally and physically safe learning environment for all
- Demonstrate knowledge of and uphold all policies, procedures, regulations, laws, and contractual obligations, to effectively manage the school facility and instructional program
- Supervise and approve the preparation and timely submission of all school reports and forms for the Educator Support Center, e.g. payroll, enrollment, work orders, etc
- Complete Student and Educator investigations as necessary
- Available during work hours and at hours outside of the workday, within reason via cellphone
Professional Preparation and Growth
- Work cooperatively with your supervisor to develop goals for personal growth and organizational improvement
- Participate in essential professional growth opportunities with staff and colleagues and apply new knowledge and skills
- Participate as a team member with colleagues, including sharing ideas and concerns
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Lincoln Middle School Educators and Coaching Staff
Other Duties
Such alternatives to the above duties as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Education or Educational Administration
- Certification/licensure: WA State K-12 Principal’s Certificate or the ability to obtain for the 2026-2027 School Year
- Experience: Successful academic background in staff supervision and evaluation, staff development, curriculum and instruction
Skills/knowledge:
- Ability to work with bargaining groups
- Ability and willingness to complete student and educator investigations

Commitment to and continued evaluation of a safe learning and working environment for students and staff
