Job Duties
The Program Curriculum Coordinator for the Applied Liberal Studies (ALS) program in the College of Liberal Arts at Morgan State University is a Title III Part F-funded position responsible for providing comprehensive academic advising and coordinating curriculum-related processes to support student success, retention, and graduation. This position plays a key role in advancing the strategic goals of the ALS program, particularly for non-traditional, adult, and returning students.
The Coordinator will collaborate with faculty, staff, and academic departments to ensure effective academic advising, promote academic excellence, and assist students in achieving their educational and professional goals.
Academic Advising and Student Support
- Provide proactive, individualized academic advising to undergraduate students enrolled in the Applied Liberal Studies program.
- Guide students in developing academic plans that align with their interests, strengths, and professional goals.
- Monitor student progress toward degree completion; conduct regular outreach and intervention for at-risk students.
- Assist students with understanding university policies, program requirements, course registration, and academic petitions.
- Connect students with appropriate campus resources, including tutoring, counseling, financial aid, and career services.
Curriculum and Program Coordination
- Collaborate with ALS program leadership and faculty on curriculum planning, course scheduling, and programmatic revisions.
- Support the integration of experiential learning opportunities, including internships and interdisciplinary projects.
Outreach, Communication, and Engagement
- Develop and disseminate advising, marketing, and orientation materials tailored to traditional and non-traditional learners.
- Facilitate group advising sessions, workshops, and student success events.
- Contribute to retention initiatives aligned with Morgan State University's strategic plan and Title III objectives.
Requested Minimum Qualifications
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university from a regionally accredited college of university is required.
Experience:
At least two years of related work experience is required.
Other Preferences for Consideration
- A Master's Degree is preferred.
