Description
Job Title: State Mobile Clinic Project Coordinator (YDMMIS)Reports To: Director - Clinical Services Unit
Overall Job function:
The project coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating mobile truck clinical support and operations, community referrals, personnel's, reporting, including compliance with donor regulations/procedures and local policy and laws. The incumbent will provide direct supervision to service delivery staff in the state mobile team. He/she will provide direct support for implementing mobile health services within the scope of a PHC including, Maternal and child health (MCH), screening and treatment of adult and adolescent acute and chronic diseases. He/she will also support the establishment of effective referral linkages with other health facilities for continuation of services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct technical assistance, as directed by the Director, Clinical services, to supported health care facilities/communities. Such assistance might include training of staff, facilitation of community linkages, development or improvement of referral systems
- Coordinate all medical intervention activities in the field office as follows:
- Health education: awareness campaign on breast cancer; kidney diseases, malaria prevention, HIV, STI, sickle cell anemia disorder and healthy living.
- General medical checkup and treatment for women, children, male adults and adolescents within the scope of a PHC setting: Screening for BP, blood sugar, STI/HIV. Breast exam, treatment for malaria and diarrhea disease. Counseling for family planning and folic acid and iron supplement for pregnant women.
- Referral of cases for further management to PHC, GH and MTN designated centres
- Lead community activities
- Participate in advocacy visits to community gate keepers
- Represent the organization before state MOH/local government health departments and other partners
- Ensure availability of commodities and drugs in a timely manner, make request where necessary and report monthly consumption data.
- Write and submit programme and financial report on a monthly and quarterly basis respectively
- Review and report on staff updates.
- Facilitate exchange of information across project coordinators to provide a resource for entire programme
- Ensure program activities are operating effectively within organization/donor policy
- Oversees the process of capturing lessons learnt and best practices
- Builds capacity of personnel's in the team to better implement their role in technical planning, management and evaluation of service delivery.
- Provides supervision and oversees the activities of other programme staff/volunteers
- Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Medical Degree (MD or a senior nurse preferred) with at least 5 years post qualification experience;
- Clinical experience in Maternal and child health (MCH) and management of adult and adolescent acute and chronic diseases
- Experience in developing country health care programs preferably in a leadership position; Experience in programme management;
- Experience in clinical training; Strong supervisory and management skills;
- Ability to work independently with good problem-solving skills and ability to foresee problems and initiate appropriate action;
- Good understanding of the programme deliverables;
- Computer literate. Experience in clinical management of HIV/AIDS is an added advantage.
