Description

2. Demonstrates ability to develop, market, and supervise new and successful program opportunities for the community
3. Demonstrates ability to work with other organizations for program development
4. Demonstrates knowledge of a wide range of youth and adult programs to meet the needs of participants and provides efficient use of District facilities
5. Demonstrates skill and ability to develop program manuals and other documents related to programs
6. Demonstrates ability to hire, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers
7. Demonstrates knowledge of inventory, ordering, maintenance, and accountability for all program-related materials and supplies
8. Demonstrates knowledge of office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and applicable technology
9. Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks, with attention to detail and limited supervision
10. Demonstrates ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services, modifying as needed
11. Demonstrates ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops, coordinates, and implements arts and cultural programs and special events in accordance with community needs under the direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation
2. Schedules, organizes, and directs programs and special events
3. Screens, interviews, and recommends hiring of program staff
4. Coordinates programs with outside groups and agencies on-site and in surrounding communities
5. Produces manuals, rules and regulations, program and instruction guides, and other appropriate communications related to effective community recreation programs
6. Establishes schedules and conducts program staff training
7. Provides continuous program evaluation to improve and enhance program quality
8. Accounts for purchase and inventory of equipment and fee receipts
9. Enforces health and safety requirements related to programs and facilities
10. Develops and maintains positive public relations, advertising, and promotion of Parks and Recreation programs
11. Attends meetings, trainings, and other related events as assigned by the Director of Parks and Recreation
12. Coordinates assigned programs and special events as assigned by the Director of Parks and Recreation
13. Assumes responsibility for timecards of assigned part-time employees
14. Works with other recreation specialists to meet community needs in all program areas
15. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with co-workers, and interact with colleagues in a professional manner
16. Models an effective understanding and respect for diversity and inclusion
17. Incorporates legal rights and due process for children with special needs
18. Demonstrates a positive attitude toward change
19. Performs such other tasks as may, from time to time, be assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Certain positions within the District may impose additional physical demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; taste and smell; and talk and hear. The employee may also need to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in recreation, or related field
Experience:
- Management of youth and/or adult recreation experience preferred
Certificates/Licenses:
- Current Colorado driver’s license
- Certification in first aid and CPR
