COMPETE is seeking a full-time, temporary Senior Digital Strategist to lead and manage a large portfolio of political and advocacy clients while serving as a trusted strategic partner to top-tier accounts through the November election season. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys juggling many moving parts, and is excited to take ownership over both strategy and execution. Senior Strategists at COMPETE manage approximately 50 campaigns at any given time, support high-touch clients, and play a critical role in shaping campaign strategy across digital advertising and social media. This position also supports proposal development, internal project tracking, and cross-department coordination. Los Angeles–based candidates are strongly preferred so they can work in person with our Director of Campaigns.

Your Team
You will be part of the Digital Strategist team. You will report to the Director of Campaigns. You will work closely with our Sales, Creative, Social Media, and tech teams to ensure campaigns are launched smoothly and perform at a high level.
Requirements
What You’ll Do
Serve as the primary point of contact for a large portfolio of top-tier political and advocacy clients, providing strategic guidance and excellent customer service.
Lead digital campaign planning across channels, including budgets, targeting, timelines, and execution.
Manage and oversee ~50 concurrent campaigns, ensuring quality control, on-time delivery, and strategic consistency.
Collaborate with sales, tech, creative, and social teams to translate client goals into actionable digital programs and help put together proposals.
Support social media strategy and content development, including ideation, messaging frameworks, captions, video scripting, and content creation. This is a very important part of this position, please make sure your experience aligns with this need.
Assist with proposal development, scopes of work, and strategic recommendations for prospective clients.
Track timelines, deliverables, approvals, and workflows across campaigns and support department-level project tracking.
Identify risks, bottlenecks, or client concerns early and proactively solve problems.
Contribute to campaign monitoring, reporting, and performance insights including writing weekly reports for all clients.
Billing and payment collection: Work with clients and sales team to devise invoicing plans and deadlines based on clients needs and budget. Manage and ensure timely collection of payments to prevent disruptions.
Step in across departments as needed during peak cycles and support junior team members when appropriate.
Location & Work Environment
Los Angeles–based candidates are strongly preferred for this role.
For candidates based in Los Angeles, this is a hybrid position, with occasional in-person collaboration at our shared WeWork office in West Hollywood, as well as periodic client meetings, filming, or content capture in the LA area.
Part of this role may include helping coordinate or attend filming and content shoots with LA-based clients, working directly with candidates, principals, or senior campaign staff during shoots or strategy sessions, and supporting in-person collaboration when it adds value.
Exceptional candidates based outside of California will still be considered. For non–Los Angeles–based hires, this position will be fully remote, with all core responsibilities remaining the same.
You Are:
Self-driven: COMPETE is remote, so you’ll be working from home with occasional optional travel. We need folks who are self-motivated, passionate, great at time management, tech-savvy, adaptable, and accountable.
Exceptional attention to detail: You have a keen eye for precision and can quickly spot errors or inconsistencies and will provide an additional level of quality control in items prepared for clients.
Sense of urgency and time management: Ability to work quickly, calmly, and efficiently, under tight deadlines. Strategists are expected to complete many tasks, and respond to clients within 24hrs.
Highly organized and comfortable managing a large volume of concurrent campaigns.
Polished, confident, and client-facing. Especially with top-tier or high-touch accounts.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused.
Passionate about progressive campaigns and causes.
Willing to work weird hours, tough schedules, weekends or whatever the workload requires around Election day(s). After our busy periods, every team member is expected to take significant time off to reset.
Strong communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential not only for the remote nature of COMPETE but for the high level of customer service required by Strategists.
Proactivity: You can anticipate the needs of your clients or team and are able to spot and solve problems before they occur.
You Have:
2+ years of experience working with political campaigns, digital marketing, communications, or related fields
Strong understanding of general digital marketing terms and tactics, as well as the digital advertising ecosystem such as Facebook, Instagram, Programmatic banner and pre-roll ads, Connected TV, Twitter, Google Dynamic, Google Search, LinkedIn, Snapchat, TikTok, and beyond.
Experience working directly with clients in a professional services or agency environment
Familiarity with social media platforms, content strategy, content creation, and digital storytelling
Strong writing skills, including experience with scripting or messaging development
Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets or Excel and have experience working with budgets and numbers
Experience working remotely and collaborating across distributed teams
Confidence in exercising independent discretion/judgement
Logistics & Expectations
Full-time, temporary position (40 hours per week) through the November election season.
Willingness to work irregular hours around Election Day(s) as needed
Remote collaboration using Gmail, Asana, Slack, Harvest, and Zoom
