Position Description: Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Senior Manager of Brand & Design serves as the primary graphic designer and leads the visual identity of Nine PBS. This role is a strategic, collaborative partner with strong command of current design trends and tools, guiding projects from concept to final delivery. They confidently present design concepts to leaders and work cross-functionally to produce brand-aligned work across digital, web, print, broadcast, events, and professional materials, including proposals and presentations. This position serves as the internal expert on local and national brand standards, ensuring consistency and clarity while enabling creative storytelling.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities: The following primary responsibilities are vital to successfully meeting the expectations of this position in an effective and efficient manner. This is not an exhaustive list, and areas of focus may fluctuate between the primary and secondary responsibilities, as needed.
- Serve as the organization's primary graphic designer and lead design strategy across digital, web, print, broadcast, events, and professional materials.
- Serve as the expert on all brand standards, including local Nine PBS branding, show and initiative sub-brands, and national PBS and PBS KIDS guidelines.
- Ensure brand consistency, quality, and accuracy across all materials, staying current on updates and changes to brand standards.
- Develop visual identities, logos, and creative systems for new shows, initiatives, and campaigns.
- Present design concepts and creative rationale to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Translate strategy and messaging into clear, audience-focused visual storytelling for donors, families, educators, partners, and internal teams.
- Provide brand guidance, feedback, and creative consultation to teams across the organization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities.
Secondary Responsibilities: These are additional activities that are expected to be performed with this position.
- Partner with external vendors and design/order swag to ensure high-quality production and brand representation.
- Stay informed on design, branding, and media trends to bring fresh thinking and best practices to the organization.
Qualifications: 2or 4-year degree/certificate and5yearsor more experience in Graphic Design, Brand Management or other related fields. Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other MS Office applications such as Adobe. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)and Canva. Experience with project management tools like Trello or Monday.com is a plus.
Hybrid Schedule: This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, typically working 2-3 days in the office each week. On-site work is expected for team meetings and monthly staff meetings, and project evaluations as required.
