Job Summary
Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a Trend Analyst to support the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Staff Training Program at Quantico, VA. This position is essential for providing strategic readiness insights to senior Marine Corps leadership through comprehensive multi-year, cross-MAGTF trend analysis. The Trend Analyst will conduct longitudinal analysis of Lessons Learned data across all MAGTF elements, publish formal Trend Reports, and support senior USMC decision-making processes. This position plays a critical role in identifying systemic issues, emerging patterns, and strategic recommendations that inform force development and training priorities.
Specific Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive multi-year trend analysis of Lessons Learned across all MAGTF elements (CE, GCE, ACE, LCE)
- Analyze cross-MAGTF patterns, systemic issues, and emerging trends affecting Marine Corps readiness
- Publish formal Trend Reports for senior Marine Corps leadership and stakeholders
- Support senior USMC decision-making processes with data-driven analysis and recommendations
- Identify strategic capability gaps and recommend long-term solutions
- Synthesize Lessons Learned data from multiple sources including AARs, formal collections, and operational reports
- Develop metrics and key performance indicators to track trends over time
- Coordinate with MAGTF element subject matter experts to validate findings and analysis
- Brief senior leadership on strategic trends, patterns, and actionable recommendations
- Support the development of training priorities and force development initiatives based on trend analysis
- Maintain comprehensive databases and analytical tools for longitudinal trend tracking
- Produce executive summaries and decision briefs for flag officers and senior civilian leaders
- Collaborate with (MCCLL) and (TECOM) on strategic readiness issues
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of senior-level military experience;
- Master's degree preferred
- Senior level experience (O-4 and above) with comprehensive understanding of MAGTF operations
- Active Secret clearance required
- Retired Marine Corps Officer (O-4/O-5/O-6) with broad operational experience strongly preferred
- Logistics Officer or other functional area expertise providing cross-MAGTF perspective highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify patterns and trends across large, complex datasets
- Excellent writing and communication skills with ability to produce executive-level reports and briefings
- Experience supporting senior leader decision-making processes
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, statistical methods, and trend analysis techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable strategic recommendations
- Experience with Marine Corps training and readiness programs
- Understanding of force development and strategic planning processes
- Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Work is performed in a typical office environment at Quantico, VA
- Must be able to work onsite at Marine Corps Base Quantico facilities
- May require extended hours during report production cycles and major briefing preparation
- Occasional attendance at senior leader meetings and conferences may be required
Travel
- Minimal to moderate travel required for coordination meetings, data collection, and senior leader briefings
