Water Pollution Control Operator-in-Training

The City of Sunnyvale is accepting applications for the Water Pollution Control Operator-In-Training. The Water Pollution Operator-In-Training is the entry-level trainee classification found in the Water Pollution Control Plant Operator series, preparing incumbents for the next higher position of Water Pollution Control Operator I. Incumbents in the Operator-In-training classification are required to actively pursue and obtain a Grade I Wastewater Plant Operator certificate within two years from the date of appointment to Water Pollution Control Operator-In-Training.
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of routine, semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the monitoring, operation, inspection and maintenance of the City's water pollution control plant, plant equipment, and related facilities; performs related work as assigned and directed.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Graduation from high school or tested equivalent.
Licenses/Certificates
- Possession at time of hire and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record.
- Water Pollution Control Operator in Training: Apply for and receive an OIT/Grade I certificate from the California State Water Resources Control Board.
