Description
KX News is looking for a Weekend News Podcast Presenter to anchor our growing digital news presence. This is a storytelling role built for a journalist who understands how audiences consume news beyond traditional broadcast. You'll host and produce weekend news podcasts for KX News, delivering content that informs, engages, and connects with listeners across North Dakota and beyond.
This isn't a read-it-and-leave position. You'll shape the editorial direction of our weekend podcast lineup, develop story ideas, conduct interviews, and help build an audience from the ground up. You'll also contribute to our broader digital and on-air platforms during the week as needed.
If you're a strong writer, a natural conversationalist on mic, and someone who treats every story like it matters - this is your role.
What you'll do:
- Host and produce weekend and weekly news podcasts across all KX News platforms
- Write, script, and deliver news content in a clear, conversational style built for audio
- Develop and pitch weekend episode ideas rooted in local and regional coverage
- Conduct interviews with newsmakers, community voices, and subject matter experts
- Edit audio content to broadcast standards using industry-standard tools
- Collaborate with anchors, reporters, and producers to extend weekend television coverage into podcast format
- Write show notes, headlines, and digital copy to support each episode
- Engage with listeners on social media and help grow the podcast audience
- Contribute reporting and writing to other platforms during the week as assigned
- Respond to breaking news and adapt content quickly when the story demands it
- Represent KX News at community events and promotional activities
What we're looking for:
- A journalist with at least 1-2 years of on-air, podcast, or digital reporting experience
- Strong writing skills and the ability to translate complex stories into clear, compelling audio
- A natural on-mic presence - conversational, authoritative, and engaging
- Solid news judgment and genuine curiosity about what's happening in North Dakota and the world
- Experience with audio editing software - preferred but not required
- The ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle multiple projects at once
- Active and professional presence on social media platforms
- A team-first attitude and willingness to pitch in across the newsroom during the week
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field - or equivalent professional experience
- Valid driver's license and flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends
- Weekend availability required
