Permanent Accounts Payable Role - Global Brand, Opportunity to Progress, Office-Based, Sydney Your new company
A global retail organisation operating a warehouse-style model with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and ethical business practices, are looking to expand their finance team. The AP function supports a high-volume, complex operation and is known for long tenure, internal movement, and promoting from within.
Your new role
As Accounts Payable Officer, you will be focusing primarily on reconciliations and issue resolution. The role is suited to someone who takes a methodical, analytical approach to resolving discrepancies, understands the drivers behind aged balances, and is comfortable owning vendor accounts end to end. Reporting to the AP Manager, key responsibilities will include:

• Reconciling merchandise vendor statements end to end
• Investigating aged balances and resolving discrepancies
• Analysing variances using Excel (V-lookups used regularly)
• Working directly with suppliers to resolve billing and payment issues
• Liaising with internal stakeholders, including warehouse teams across multiple sites
• Reviewing AP ageing and following items through to resolution
• Assisting with bank and GST reconciliations as required
• Managing supplier claims and payment disputes
• Supporting continuous improvement across the AP function

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience in a pure Accounts Payable role
• Solid exposure to vendor statement reconciliations
• Good understanding of general ledger processes
• Strong Excel skills (V-lookups and Pivot Tables essential)
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and organised
• Comfortable communicating with suppliers and internal teams
• Proactive, resilient, and able to manage volume without losing accuracy
